Environmental Policy

Walks4Business operates in the beautiful Peak District of Derbyshire. Quite simply, our business exists because of this unique natural environment and this is why we are so passionate about conserving it.

 

Good Environmental Management Practices (GEMP) are the mainstay of our business and in order to promote them we commit to:

 

  • Minimising the environmental impact of ourselves and our customers by:
    • Encouraging the use of public transport to travel into the Peak District. Wherever possible, our activities will start/finish close to a railway station.
    • Ensuring we do not contribute to the erosion problem by keeping group sizes to a minimum and avoiding areas susceptible to erosion.
    •  Avoiding the unnecessary disturbance of wildlife, particularly in the breeding season.
       
  • Promoting a sense of responsibility and understanding for the environment through educating groups about the outdoors in a way that gives them a greater awareness of the fragility of our surroundings. 

 

  • Encouraging the sustainability of rural communities by purchasing locally produced goods and services wherever possible.

 

  • Preventing pollution by ensuring that we “leave nothing but footprints” after our activities have finished.

 

  • Complying with environmental legislation and any guidance issued by the National Park Authority.

 

Peak Walking Adventures who provide 'Walks4Business' have been awarded the prestigious Green Tourism Business Scheme Silver Award in recognition of their green and sustainability policies and actions.
